A Letter to Timber Workers and Nippon Paper

[Revised Friday, November 26, 2010].

[Revised Sunday, November 21, 2010].

All of the carbon dioxide, CO2, from other fuels and sources has already been maxed out by those who run things. The quantity in our faces, especially the children's faces, per unit time is the critical measure. Wood is perhaps the last thing for them to get more local CO2 from. I can still find old cedar stumps with notches in them. How old would they be? Many fir logs lying on the ground have been there at least ten years. The idea that 'biomass' is neutral when that kind of stuff is to be ground up and burned now (Q. p.u.t. increased) in a populated area is criminal.

Science has been corrupted. We are dealing only with what certain people say is or is not harmful, not reality. Very little carbon monoxide is made anymore. It was never the problem, especially out in the woods. (Please find my "No more float" in my "Warming Lies" section).

My enemy is those people behind this and the excess and unnecessary CO2 they have forced upon us. It may seem that I have singled you out, but that is not so. You are only the latest battleground. They have already hurt us, but they have not yet broken us. I ask you to seriously consider whether that is their intent with this widespread and urgent push for 'biomass' burning. Please. These projects are not 'pilot' projects. They have a history. (It matters little what is burned as long as the major product is CO2. Thanksgiving Day, 2010, the AQI for Klamath Falls, OR was 154. (Find this at airnow.gov). That is in the 'red' zone denoting 'unhealthy.' I discovered that they have a natural gas-fired generator of about 500 Mw. The CO2 from that operation does not affect the AQI number, but if you read my "Estimating Ambient CO2," you will see how I connect it. If you have any family or friends in Klamath Falls, please give them a clue).

My paternal grandfather was a logger. He worked in the English camps in Skagit County (perhaps somewhat in Snohomish County --- they used to fish in Deer Creek). My father grew up in the woods and also logged prior to WWII. It is noble work.

One of my uncles was an executive for Weyerhauser. He lived in Tacoma. I will always remember him fondly saying, "Ah, money!" whenever we smelled the aroma from the mill.

I don't believe the old mills harmed anyone. You can read (elsewhere at this website) why I believe that and why I believe that some now do since we have changed the emissions .

The change in emissions was not properly vetted. It was ram-rodded through amidst mass hysteria. Carbon monoxide, another invisible gas, was the 'demon,' although the sole purpose was to only make the air look cleaner. The same 'hurry up' and emotional scenario is playing out with 'biomass.' It has not been vetted either. Ask yourselves how free you think we are when things like this can happen under our noses, and our so-called protectors, our officials and media are in cahoots. (That's a good old word).

Aren't you suspicious when the very people who have been hammering your industry for many decades now show up "bearing gifts?" Haven't you asked why? Aren't these the same people who whine continuously about 'global warming' or 'climate change?' Isn't there some kind of trick? Why the 'bum's rush?'

Consider the Forks 'biomass' boiler as a Trojan Horse. There are no enemy soldiers hidden inside. There don't have to be. CO2 causes us to turn on each other and even ourselves. (And more bad stuff). Keep your eyes on it. I see the amount of wood it is scheduled to burn has now been decreased to 28 tons every 3 to 4 weeks from 32 tons every 2 to 3 weeks. The latter is about one half its capacity. Watch closely when it gets near capacity. Please do not add 'cogeneration.'

Why do they want to take 'hog fuel' and dress it up (sissify it) as 'biomass.' Can you not discern the fraud involved?

There is both fraud and trickery involved. There is an ulterior motive also. You can read about that also at this website. I believe the destruction of our nation is the purpose behind 'biomass.' Nothing less.

My focus is on the amount of increased carbon dioxide, CO2, in our buildings and communities. Increasing the CO2 in our communities results in more in our homes, for instance. Many homes already have too much because of new construction requirements and 'weatherization' programs.

Judicious 'slash' burning does not bother me. However, the fact that it bothers so many people now seems to confirm my suspicion that we have rather high local levels of CO2. Just as so many turned against smokers when we were forced to endure high CO2 levels indoors, the same thing happening outdoors indicates a similar problem. If you find and study my "Esimating Ambient CO2," you'll get a better picture. I don't really know what the levels are, but using EPA and Ecology's own numbers, the scenario is truly troubling.

I recall the days when we raked the leaves into a pile and burned them. It could be temporarily annoying, but no one thought too much of it. Ditto for slash or burning stubble. One of the symptoms of CO2 is that it causes us to take offense at the slightest provocation, and we turn on each other. Perhaps that is part of it.

[Going out on a limb here]. The last few years when I have seen smoke in the foothills, it doesn't seem to be rising. It tops out, flat, and goes sideways. Is that the way it used to be? That could be consistent with a local layer of heavier CO2 molecules that impedes dispersal. (Check out my writing on "kinetics"). People have to put up with it longer after the CO2 already has them exasperated. I used to like to smell a fire. Sometimes I still do, but other times it does seem to smell bad and is irritating. Could that be when the CO2 is higher?

I know nothing of the soils argument. It seems that perhaps we should be putting our sludge in the forests instead of into the water.

I have no strong objection to such an electrical generating facility that is located in an area where there are no people for several miles around. I would prefer that 1950s type emissions were made. Filtering is alright, but no high temperature incineration.

I believe Nippon should be allowed to support its current line of business. That does not include generating extra electricity. If it must be, go back to 1950s type emissions. (Reasons can be found elsewhere here). I support giving them back their dam. Free, with free improvements.

If Nippon is in such dire condition that it needs such a pretext for a bailout, then I say, "Let Nippon fail." You have a good example with K-Ply/PennPly of what can be done. The Nippon assets won't melt. Look at our state's economic condition. There are going to be others who need that $71 million (or whatever the taxpayers' share is) more.

If you want 'make work,' let's dig some holes and fill them in. It would be less harmful.

If you want some useful ideas, we could use a National Guard or Reserve unit here and a new armory. How about a new (rejuvenated) dam or at least some reservoirs?

What? $71 million for twenty something jobs? That's not a bargain. It's robbery. My partner and I started with perhaps $30,000 in capital and employed 6. There are many who have done better.

Lastly, let me warn you about the direction I see us all going in. We need to stop and turn back. Do you know the story of Stalin's chicken? Apparently, it is a true one. I used the following source:

www.nobribes.org/stalin.htm

I'll let you get the story yourself. The following is from that site:

"All the stories differ to a certain degree but the basics of the story match. One of them states that Stalin stood in the freezing cold of Moscow speaking to the people, bluntly telling them that if you take from the people every method they have to take care of themselves, when you offer them a scrap, they welcome the scrap warmly."

Is 'biomass' such a scrap? Should you think of yourselves as Stalin's abused chicken?

In my opinion, not only is 'biomass' a scrap, it is a turd, the kind that can put your soul in peril.

Please try to put this in context of what is going on elsewhere in our community and nation.

We need to fight not cave. Please pick up some ammunition here.

Well, I guess that wasn't "lastly" above There's always more, it seems. We have recently been warned that the loss of jobs (as if that is a certainty) could result in more alcoholism, suicide, etcetera. Some people just don't get it. I have been around people who have lost their job. I lost mine in the "dot-com" bust. That wasn't the first time either. I have started over several times. I've had a couple of colossal failures of my own making. I read history. Those kind of results (alcoholism, suicide) are not the American way. At least they didn't used to be. They are reminiscent of the old Soviet Union and other workers' paradises. There's your 'full employment.' There's your real alcoholism, etcetera. Have we already forgotten that we had near full employment recently with plenty of drugs and killing?

I have a higher opinion of you. You will persevere and overcome. That kind of talk, crawling in a bottle, beating the wife and kids, and suicide is insulting. The idea that you will behave like a spoiled child if you don't get your 'freebies' is revolting. Such studies seem to make the behavior excusable. They also involve the power of suggestion to some vulnerable minds. There always seems to be an upsurge in bad things after we are informed this way. Who do these vermin think they are? Who do they think they are dealing with? They can take their studies and shove 'em. Incidently, they never consider the CO2 level in any study. Why not? Come on, don't real scientists consider all variables? Shouldn't there be some remark like, "we looked at this and this and decided this was not important because of x, y, or q? You know there should.

Forget all that 'family wage jobs' crap. There is only hard work and honor. If you want to save this country, get rid of the benefits. People are too scared of losing them, so they won't speak out. It is also one of the reasons that they are too willing to do the wrong thing.

Well, we have become more like the Soviet Union. There's the rub. There's the social disintegration. There's your CO2.

Our founding fathers understood, fought, and warned us about entities like the EPA and Ecology. They referred to them as "magistrates and ministries." They were not elected by the people, but appointed by the King or his men. There is material here that we can use to destroy Ecology and the EPA. There hands are very dirty, very guilty. Join me. Lose your chains!
